Ukrainian by birth, Madeiran by choice – Anastasia Mazur moved to Madeira in 2015 to find out, firsthand, what it takes to build something from nothing on a remote island. That “something” became My Madeira Island, an association she founded and now leads, running international education projects that turn young people and adults into changemakers.
Before that, she was a journalist chasing sociopolitical stories, a voice at international investigative journalism conferences, and then a fellow with Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
With a perspective shaped by both continental Europe and insular life, Anastasia is a big advocate for sustainable development and equal opportunities for island communities.
